Training Course for NXP Semiconductors Nexperia Media Processors

Momentum Data Systems is sponsoring a Nexperia training course in Fountain Valley, CA during 2007. First session: week of March 12-16, 2007.
The course teaches how to develop audio and video processing software for set-top boxes, digital media adaptors, security applications, custom video processing systems, video and audio codecs, etc. The focus is on Nexperia Media Processors from NXP Semiconductors, including PNX1500, PNX1700, and PNX8550/8950 processor families.
Prices: 2 days $1700. 3 days $2400. 4 days $3000. 5 days $3500. Other tentative 2007 classes: weeks of June 18, September 24, and December 3.

Motorola, TI Commit to Customised 3G Solution

Motorola and Texas Instruments have decided to expand their relationship to include 3G, WiMAX and OMAP technologies in the design and development of new, experience-optimised mobile devices. As part of the expansion, Motorola is developing 3G handsets based on a TI customised 3G solution that will include processors from TI's OMAP 3 architecture, as well as 3G and 3.5G building blocks from both Motorola and TI. New handsets using this solution are expected to be available to consumers as early as 2008, the company added.

Analog Devices Look to Shanghai for MobileTV

Analog Devices Inc. and Legend Silicon Corp. have set up a joint design laboratory to develop reference designs for China's emerging mobile TV market. The design lab, which is located in Shanghai, adjacent to the Fudan University campus, will provide complete front-end solutions, from the antenna through the tuner to the demodulator to the MPEG2 TS interface, to allow Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) to quickly equip their mobile terminal products—including portable media players, PDAs, laptop PCs, automotive displays and smart phones—to receive terrestrial digital TV broadcasts.
