Adding to their VC21 series of products, Virtual Cogs has introduced the Portable Computing COG (PC COG). The PC COG is built around a 4.3” LCD touch screen and integrates built-in stereo speakers, a microphone and audio input/output jacks in addition to two joysticks and several strategically placed pushbuttons. With an integrated Li-Ion battery and charging circuit, the device can be run portably for hours on a single battery charge. A MiniSD card slot adds data storage expansion capabilities. Aimed at those interested in developing PDA devices, portable gaming consoles and remote controls, the PC COG mates with the i.MX21 COG (Freescale i.MX21 multimedia processor board running Linux). The addition of other Virtual Cogs daughtercards using a set of PassThru connectors adds features such as Ethernet, wireless connectivity, GPS and a camera to portable designs. For integration, an optional plastic enclosure is also available.
